AAS celebrated Black History Month through a variety of readings, discussions, and raising the awareness of movements such as #BlackLivesMatter.
#BlackLivesMatter brings attention to issues such as police brutality, voter suppression, economic inequality, and the mistreatment of Black people all over the world. Students, teachers, and parents here at AAS must continue to participate in this ongoing discussion so we all can work to live in a society that does not judge a person by their skin color.
In addition to #BlackLivesMatter, we raised funds for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting those facing racial discrimination and fighting said discrimination through litigation. You can make a donation at www.naacpldf.org #BlackLivesMatter
