Last Friday and Saturday 15 of our MS and HS students took part in the Expand Your Impact Conference. The online conference, launched by CEESA, brought together more than 150 students from 13 international schools across the CEESA region to develop a new or work on an existing service project in an area of their interest. Keynote speaker at the conference was the 20 year old activist and changemaker Melati Wijsen who founded Bye Bye Plastic Bags with her younger sister and successfully banned plastic bags, straws and Styrofoam on their home island Bali in 2019.
Students will continue to work on their projects with international peers throughout the academic year and will have opportunities to learn from other youth activists through the partnership with Melati Wijsen and Youthopia. The Expand Your Impact Challenge will conclude in March with an opportunity for student teams to pitch to a panel of Youthtopia experts and even share their stories at the CEESA spring teachers’ conference.
