On Friday, Dec 6 we had our Class of 2020 IB Silver Tray ceremony in the Rila Theatre for the first time.
The Silver Tray ceremony is a special celebration where the graduates symbolically submit their IB Extended Essays (their first major academic paper) and share the topics within the community. Topics varied largely – from exploring the works of classical writers, through observation of fungi in Sofia pools to geopolitical situation in Asia.
Having put much effort into research, writing and editing the essays, the students extended their gratitude to their academic advisors, friends and family.
The feeling of accomplishment and relief was overwhelming. Graduates shared some laughs about the hardships of essay writing and imparted wisdom to their Grade 11 peers – ‘Choose a topic that you like, so you actually enjoy the process.’
We would like to once again congratulate our Class of 2020 students for their achievement and wish them ‘Good luck’ with the rest of the school year and the IB exams.
