On April 27th, both grade 1 classes went on an excursion to see what happens to waste in Sofia.  They saw how food waste is composted and energy is recovered, how fallen trees are turned into potting mix, how recyclables are sorted out of the municipal solid waste stream and the path of waste from the garbage trucks to the landfill.  The students were very grateful for their excellent guides from the municipality who explained the processes to them and answered their questions.
