Last Wednesday, first grade students visited a Zero Waste restaurant in Sofia. We learned more about the Zero Waste movement, with its steps of “refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle”. Our students saw the store’s composting centre up close and learned from the owner, who has also written a book about Zero Waste. We imagined creative alternate uses for a variety of common household waste items. All of this is contributing to the students’ inquiries into how the choices we make affect the environment.
