The HS team of 9 talented and committed students spent last weekend in Baku, Azerbaijan, competing against 9 other schools at the annual CEESA Speech and Debate competition. After months of preparation and rehearsals, students gave their all against 73 other competitors in an exhausting two-day competition. We were represented in four of the five events – Debate, Duet Acting, Original Oratory and Oral Interpretation – with seven of our nine team members making it through to the finals.
We waited with baited breath for the results, and were delighted that five team members received medals – Nasko, Blagovesta, Chenuse, Matteo and Rebecca. We are incredibly proud of these amazing young people who represented AAS with such poise, passion, professionalism and panache! Well done!
At the same time, another High School team represented AAS at the BERMUN 2019 conference that took place at the JFK Kennedy school in Berlin. AAS attended with eight HS delegates this year, representing Yemen and Unicef. Our ambassador Adam gave an impressive opening speech and our students did exceptionally well this year in their respective committees. Four of our students were main submitters (Yoana, Elena, Shown and Adam) and seven resolutions passed. Congratulations to all delegates for their great work!
