Dear Parents,
Welcome to the Anglo-American School of Sofia (AAS) – Bulgaria’s international school of choice – where we have been serving students since 1967.
Whether you are a prospective student, family or teacher, or you are currently a part of the AAS community, we hope that as you navigate through our website you get to know all aspects of our school, from our mission and vision to the ways we are preparing students to be global citizens.
At AAS, we develop compassionate critical thinkers and innovators through our academic program, pastoral and service programs, athletics, activities, arts, and community events. We are committed to preparing our students to follow the post-secondary path of their choice. By offering a rigorous curriculum culminating in our oldest students studying the Diploma Program of the International Baccalaureate (IB), we are preparing students to be the leaders and change agents of the future. Our academic results consistently allow our graduates to attend the most respected universities in the world.
We are fortunate to have a stunning purpose built campus. We have recently completed the “Rila Renaissance Centre” devoted entirely to art, design, and technology. Our campus buildings are LEED certified and as such we offer spacious classrooms and well structured and ample outdoor space, allowing students to have learning experiences across the campus…all while looking at our beautiful backdrop of Mt. Vitosha.
AAS attracts and retains highly qualified teachers from around the world as well as from within Bulgaria. From our faculty, to our gardeners and maintenance teams, cleaners, security, and food services, all of us who serve at AAS take pride in doing our best to prepare our students for the rapidly changing world they will encounter.
It is an exciting time to be at the Anglo-American School of Sofia, and I welcome you to contact us or come by for a visit to learn more about us.
We hope to see you on campus soon.
Yours in educational service,
Dr. Tim Fries
