High
School
Grades 9-12
High School at AAS is characterized by a rigorous academic program of studies combined with numerous activities and pursuits beyond the classroom. Students of all abilities are encouraged to aim high and to realise their full potential.
During High School years at AAS, students develop the skills, knowledge and values they need to find solutions, innovate and communicate in a world they are building and shaping. They are consistently supported in their endeavors and receive many opportunities to demonstrate leadership and mutual respect for their peers.
HS Meets Unique Needs
Our formal curriculum is anchored in standards and benchmarks from our Pre-Kindergarten program up through the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) with an emphasis on teaching for understanding. Teachers use a variety of teaching techniques to best meet the unique needs of each student. At times students may be engaged in guided inquiry, collaborative research and self-discovery and, other times, they may work with a small group or receive one-to-one support.
Academic Progress
AAS High School is a time of further exploration where young people develop independence, creativity and critical thinking. Almost all our graduates go on to higher education establishments all over the world; so it is also a time of looking to the future while staying in the present. It is a period when students realise that the academic stakes are high, and look to their teachers for guidance and support.
The adage that “students do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care” is at the forefront of every teacher’s mind as they lead their young people to the next stage of their lives.
HS Activities & Creativity
High School continues to offer a wide range of art, drama, music and other extra and co-curricular activities, every student is given the chance to excel academically, physically, emotionally and socially.
HS Athletic Opportunity
During High School, a balance between academic studies and athletic pursuits is more important than ever. Students are encouraged to stay active and to participate in a range of sports, both competitively and recreationally.
A wide range of teams and sporting opportunities continue to be linked with CEESA each year.
