Located at the heart of the AAS campus, this hub of learning provides a daily example to students of the core values of respect, integrity, curiosity, and confidence.
Our AAS Library offers extended Library hours to ensure that Pre-K to grades 12 and the entire community has access to our staff and resources.
The Library offers activities, author visits, and special events throughout the year. Recent visitors have included illustrator and author George O’Connor, graphic novelist Kazu Kibuishi, poet G Yamazawa, authors Jan Reynolds, Linda Sue Park, and David M. Schwartz.
The Library offers desktop computer access, and chromebooks and laptops for check-out, quiet study spaces, spaces for group work, and presentation space with projector and whiteboard. Our AAS Library shelves house 30,000+ titles, including magazine subscriptions in English, and foreign language collections.

Library Access and Loan Policies
Library Hours
Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:30pmLibrary Access
The AAS Library is a shared space that serves all students PreK-12. Please note: :- MS and HS students may come during their free periods, including lunch times.
- ES classes have a regularly scheduled, weekly Library time that has already been added to the Library Calendar.ES Students may come to the Library throughout the day/week to exchange books with their teacher’s permission.
- We ask that students be considerate of each other, and be aware that if class is in session, librarians may not be available to help them.
- HS students may bring drinks into the library. (Please use the tables outside for snacks.)
Student Loan Policies
Two-week loan period with renewals as needed:- PreK – Grade 2 – Two books
- Grade 3 – Three books
- Grade 4 – Four books
- Grade 5 – Five books
- Grade 6-8 – Ten books (including textbooks)
- Grades 9-12 – Fifteen books (including textbooks)
We are happy to extend the limit should students need books for a project, etc.
Library Holds
- Grades 2-5 may place a hold on two books.
- Grades 6-9 may place a hold on four books.
Notifications
Overdue notices are sent out when books are 1 week, 2 weeks, and 3 weeks overdue.- Students PreK-5 – email to parents
- Students Grade 6-12 – email to student AAS email accounts. (Parents are only contacted if a book is overdue by 2-3 weeks or more.)
Lost/Damaged Books
If a book is more than 3 weeks overdue, students will not be allowed to check out books until the book is returned or replaced.
Library guidelines ask that the patron purchase a replacement copy or pay for lost or damaged books. Alternatively, they may see Sonya Krainova at the Business Office from 8:30 – 4:00 pm to pay for the book.Library Resources
Electronic Equipment
The library has the following equipment available for check out by faculty or students:- USB microphones
- 15 Chromebooks
- 10 high-storage iPads
- 5 HP Laptops
- Digital Voice Recorders (for IB)
BYOD Policies in the AAS Library
- Borrowed devices must be returned by the end of the school day by 4:00 pm. Laptops may not be taken home.
- Loaner Laptops are intended for temporary use. Please see ICT if you have ongoing problems with your computer.
Digital Subscriptions
AAS provides access to a variety of Digital resource via Destiny Discover, our Library’s Online Catalog. The catalog also has a link to a document containing login information for all of our resources. These resources include:- Britannica School
