Health & Hygiene
Procedures

  • Masks

Masks help people reduce the spread of the virus by minimizing the risk that someone who is unknowingly carrying the virus will expose others.

Students and staff will bring a minimum of two masks to school each day. Masks will be worn at all times by all people while in the buildings or near other people anywhere on campus.

Masks with ventilation valves, buffs, and scarves are not permitted.

Masks must be worn under the chin and over the mouth and nose.

Cotton masks must be washed at home each day and surgical masks thrown away.

In addition to recess and outside breaks, students who have health conditions that make it difficult to wear a mask for extended times will be able to work with teachers and the AAS nurses to include additional “mask breaks.”
Face-shields may be worn in addition to masks, but they do not take the place of masks.

  • Triage at School

The temperatures of everyone entering the campus will be checked. There will be regular wellness and temperature checks during the school day.

If symptoms appear at school, parents will be called to pick up students who are displaying any symptoms. The student will be kept in isolation until their parent/caregiver arrives.
Isolation areas will be in place for Primary and Secondary students should a student become sick during the school day. While waiting for parents to arrive, students will be held in the designated isolation area.

  • Hand Washing/Sanitized

Students, staff, parents, and anyone in our community will regularly and thoroughly wash their hands with water and soap or alcohol based hand rub. Hand sanitizer dispensers will be in each classroom.

  • Hygiene Education & Reinforcement

Students, staff, parents, and anyone in our community will regularly and thoroughly wash their hands with water and soap or alcohol based hand rub. Hand sanitizer dispensers will be in each classroom.

  • Cleaning

Restrooms and high frequency touch surfaces (e.g. door handles, railings, water coolers) will be sanitized regularly.

  • Health Rooms

In addition to the regular Health Room, there is an “isolation room” in case a student or staff member shows symptoms of COVID while at school.
