Get to know our Theatre Teacher Mr. Mark Modzelewski ( a.k.a Mr. Modz)
Introduce yourself in one sentence, please
I’m Mr. Modz and I teach Theatre and Theatre Tech in MS and HS.
How long have you been at AAS?
I am finishing my fourth year at AAS and I’ve lived in Bulgaria for almost five years now.
Share something we do not expect to hear from you?
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away I once sang “School’s Out” onstage with Alice Cooper!
What do you love most about your job?
I learn new things everyday. Sometimes it’s from colleagues, sometimes from students, sometimes it’s about the theatre equipment, or life or…? Each day has new adventures if you are willing to face them.
What would you be if you weren’t a teacher?
I would be a Theatre Director who would do lots of gardening in my spare time. .
What is the most important thing one has to learn at school?
Be yourself and be willing to challenge what you think you know. He he. (I snuck two things in there.)
What would you say to your 13 year old self
Mistakes are not failures; they are opportunities to learn. Push yourself outside of your comfort zone more often and be prepared and willing to seize the opportunities.
Please recommend a book to read
I’m going to recommend one that many people think they know, but most haven’t really read it. The Bible. We hear sayings from it and read about things past and present that are impacted because of it. I would encourage people to find out what it really says.
