“I’ve always loved the first day of school better than the last day of school.
Firsts are best because they are beginnings”
– Jenny Han
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at AAS-Sofia!
I hope that you had a pleasant summer with family and friends.
The start of a new school year is a time of excitement. Excitement to reconnect with friends, to meet new friends-to-be, and to begin engaging in all of the learning and extracurricular activities at AAS. It is also a time of transition that naturally includes some anxiety as well. There are transitions to a new grade level, new teachers, and for many, a new school. To those of you who are new to AAS, I am pleased to welcome you to the community!
This year, my family gets to experience the bittersweet transition of sending one of our children off to his first year of college. In fact, I am away from AAS for the first week as I help him transition to his new school. I am sorry to miss the first days of school and the always excellent PTO Welcome Back Barbecue (thank you PTO!), but I look forward to seeing you on campus next week.
AAS is a place of belonging. We strive to have every student, staff member, family member, and guest feel welcomed and respected; a place where they feel safe to challenge themselves and excel in academics, the arts, activities, and athletics. Whether you are new to AAS or have been here many years, I hope that you engage in the community and enjoy the 2024-25 school year!
We are here to help make the 2024-25 school year the best it can be for you. If you want to connect with us about anything, please do not hesitate to reach out.
